With Christmas behind us & spring getting ever closer, we are relieved that the long hard winter is nearly coming to an end. The horses had a well deserved break over Christmas & have come back into work ready to kick start the season ! Basil ( Ekko Zham ) is heading out to his first competition of 2013 starting off on wed 27 of February to do a Medium qualifier & Advanced Medium qualifier at Keysoe in Bedfordshire. Bella ( Ekko Summer Solstice ) Who is now 6 years old ( it only seems 2 mins ago she was born ! ) Has been working hard & making some real progress – she is now working at a green medium level. We are very proud of her. All of our youngsters are a year older & Bungee is due to give birth on the 4th April ! She is in foal to Don Olymbrio. Fingers crossed we can get Keri’s former international mare Donna Parrina in foal this year, we failed after 5 attempts last breeding season.

We welcome all our new team members, Look out for us all out & about in our new ‘ Team Ekko ‘ jackets!

Display & Clinic @ Willow Farm Riding School

On Wednesday the 29th we took part in Willow Farm RS gold camp. We took Ekko Zham & Pirollo to do a display where we showed all the dressage movements upto PSG level. After the camp was split into two groups for us to teach . then in the afternoon there was a competition where the campers rode a walk & trot test which Keri judged. We combined the scores from the test along with scores which we gave them for thier effort, ambition, position, effectiveness of thier aids etc. The winner of the combined score won a lesson on Ekko Zham . The winner was Milly Byrne . A massive well done to all of you !

Fingers Crossed Donna Parrina Scans in Foal

After 4 attempts trying to get her in foal & failing we have given it one last shot ! She went to Beauford AI centre . We find out on monday 27th .. fingers crossed . If she doesnt take we will have to wait until next year to start again. The chosen stallion – Dante weltino

Olympic Torch Relay

On Sunday the 1^st july we took part in the Olympic torch relay celebrations along with the North Warwickshire Pony Club in Kenilworth. They held many activities where the public could join in or watch displays throughout the day to promote different sports such as tennis, bmx, orienteering , running, swimming etc these are just naming a few.

We were very excited & honoured when asked to be apart of this back in February as this was a great opportunity to promote dressage. Many hours went in to our display from designing the floor plan & music to practicing. Our display was held in the Abbey Fields & the horses could have not behaved any better ! They were both superstars ! Rebecca was riding our own Ekko Zham an 8 yr old KWPN gelding by Krack C who we have owned since an un backed 4 yr old & have trained him up through the levels to PSG ( see ekko horses ) . Keri was riding Lucy Mills’ Darkness who we have trained up to medium level. We couldn’t have asked for any more from them, they coped so well with the atmosphere & the large audiences! Our music consisted of Tracks from Moulin rouge , the Matrix & Flat boy slim.

The pony club pulled out all the stops with their display which consisted of 12 riders & ponies. They all were wearing GB flagged clothes along with faces painted & the horses in gold rugs ! They pulled off a very good floor plan with very British music! Well done to all of them.

Donna Parrina Retires

We have made the hard decision to retire Keri’s horse Donna Parrina, They had an amazing 5 years together. She took Keri to 2 europeans where they came individual 7th and 9th , won addington CDI 3 times, a list of Internationals & being British Champion !! We owe so much to her! She is now going to be a full time mum and have some lovely foals! Check out the link above where Eurodressage announce her retirement !

Bungee becomes a proud mum

Bungee who is Beccy’s retired international horse became the proud Mum of a colt called ‘Blue’ who is by Furst Romancier . She will be inseminated at the beginning of the breeding season next year.
